Riding Holidays

Have the holiday of a life-time at Murthwaite Green - where the mountains meet the sea.
  • Experience the thrill of riding along the beach
  • Take in the far-reaching views from one of our fell rides
  • We cater for novice to experienced riders
  • Improve your riding skills and care for your horse

Most people dream of riding along a long sandy beach with the sound of the waves and the smell of salt in the air. At Murthwaite Green you really can make your dreams come true. Silecroft Beach is the most fantastic beach for riders - it is around 5 miles long with firm sand and shallow waters - ideal for a good gallop.

Our holidays consist of a choice of local Bed and Breakfast accommodation, 4 - 5 hours riding per day, and the opportunity for hands-on horse care experience if required.

All rides are escorted by friendly, helpful and fully qualified staff who all have a good local knowledge. All ride escorts hold their British Equestrian Tourism qualifications, their Riding and Road Safety Certificates and are qualified first aiders.

We are based in a beautiful, yet relatively quiet part of Western Cumbria where we are lucky enough to have both the fells and a 5 mile long sandy beach within a few minutes ride.

You Really Can Make Your Dreams Come True.

You also have the option of getting more involved with the horses - if you want to you can arrive in time to brush and tack up your horse prior to riding. We also offer instruction in Stable Management.

The holidays are tailored to your requirements and capabilities, so you can get the type of holiday you want. Adult mid week breaks and weekends are available throughout the year - choose from lessons in all weather arena, beach rides, fell rides, full or half day rides with picnic stops. Alternatively, you can sit back and let us arrange everything for you.
