Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any age restrictions?

Our minimum age is 4 years.  There is no upper age limit as long as you are fit enough to take part.  We don't accept unaccompanied under 18 year olds on trail rides.

Is their a weight limit?

Our weight limit is around 16 stone.  This is dependent upon rider fitness and experience.

What equipment do I need?

Please wear long trousers and sturdy footwear with a small heel.  We have hats for you to borrow which are free of charge.  You are welcome to ride in your own hat provided it meets current safety standards.

Do I need to be able to ride to go on the beach rides?

Not at all, we are happy to take out all abilities on our beach rides.

Are there beach rides every day?

Generally, there is at least 1 beach ride each day.  The times change daily due to tide times and you will need to book in plenty of time.

What information do you need when booking?

We will need your approximate height and weight (age if you are a child), previous riding experience and a contact number.  All this information will help us select the most suitable horse or pony for you. We will also require credit or debit card details to secure the booking.

How soon before the ride is due to leave do I need to arrive?

We ask our customers to arrive 15/20 mins prior to ride time.  This gives enough time to complete necessary paperwork, fit hats and mount ready for a short assessment in the arena before leaving the yard.

What sort of horses do you have?

We have a mixture of horses and ponies who are mainly sensible native breeds and cob types.  They range in height from 11hh to 16.1hh.  They are all gentle and well mannered who will happily take the novice rider along the beach, and are more than happy to have a gallop when required!

How can I pay?

We accept cash, cheque with bankers card and most major credit and debit cards.  Payment is made on arrival at the yard.

How do I book?

You can book by phone, email or in person. Please see our booking information page for more details.

Do you accept groups?

We happily accept large groups and are approved activity providers for Lancashire County Council.  We work closely with local schools, colleges and youth groups and can offer an attractive discount for large groups.
